Our rollers require only a minimal amount of pressure to support your part effectively. We recommend tightening them just slightly beyond hand-tight for optimal support.
What is the typical lead time for my R.I.P. steady rest order?
We strive to process orders quickly. Generally, you can expect your R.I.P. steady rest to be shipped within four weeks or less from the order date. Feel free to reach out for specific delivery inquiries.
Can I use my existing factory-supplied steady rest base?
Absolutely. We can easily mount our high-quality steady rests to an existing factory-supplied base at no extra cost to you.
Do I need a Schmidt Tool & Manufacturing technician for installation?
Not at all. Our steady rests come with clear installation instructions, making them simple to set up on your own.
Is it possible to purchase an R.I.P. steady rest directly from Schmidt Tool & Manufacturing for better pricing or delivery?
While buying through your local machinery dealer is advantageous, we do sell directly at the list price if you’re not currently working with a dealer. This policy is in place to support our network of steady rest manufacturers and dealers.
What type of grease should I use for the roller bearings on my R.I.P. steady rest?
We recommend using Lithium Complex E.P. grease for the roller bearings to ensure optimal performance.
What is the part diameter range for my R.I.P. steady rest?
You can find the part diameter range engraved directly on the mount base plate of your steady rest.
What is the weight capacity of my R.I.P. steady rest?
The weight capacity is conveniently engraved on the mount base plate for easy reference.
Where can I purchase replacement roller bearings for my R.I.P. steady rest?
You can obtain roller bearings from Motion Industries, and we’re happy to sell them to you as well. They are also available at most bearing supply houses.
Which bearing do I need for my R.I.P. steady rest?
The specific bearing number is typically engraved on your steady rest's mount base plate for your convenience.
What is included when I order an R.I.P. steady rest?
Your order will come complete with a mount and all necessary hardware for installation, a roll-around storage cart, a dust cover, a wrench, a tube of grease, detailed mounting and operating instructions, a one-year limited warranty, and unlimited technical support during our business hours (Monday to Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.).
